I'm trying to find easier ways of harvesting other than purchasing equipment specifically for this process. I read somewhere that coffee filters have a pore size of about 20microns and it got me thinking. I put a simple funnel and multi-ply coffee filter together to try and filter out algae from my closed loop reactor. I took a few run through's however I was able to filter a portion of my algae stock out.
Wanted to see if anyone else has tried this or found easier ways to do this process.

Yep, coffee filters worked great for me. the problem that I found is that they get weak at the joins and tend to split eaisly. I also tried stockings which worked good if there were some good chunks but let alot of finer stuff go through. Forget about using a coffee plunger as alot go straight through and up the sides.
